The focus of chiropractic care is restoring movement, correcting posture and maintaining the integrity of your nervous system.
Spinal misalignment can cause nerve tissue to stretch or become irritated. This can hinder the nerve signals running between the brain and the body, resulting in loss of motion, bad postural positions, hyperactive organ function and often pain.
A thorough examination helps locate areas of decreased motion and misalignment. The moving bones in the spine are common trouble areas. The corrective effects of an spinal adjustment help restore proper motion to the spine, allowing for better posture, pain relief, and less nerve interference. Rediscover the freedom of being well!
Who can benefit from Chiropractic Care?
Improved nerve communication between the brain and the body can help everyone. If you have spinal misalignments, you can likely benefit from chiropractic care. We modify our treatments for children, seniors, and those with special needs.
How long is an appointment? Will the chiropractor give me a spinal adjustment on the first visit?
Your initial examination will take 30-45 minutes. Follow-up appointments are typically 5-10 minutes. Whether the patient receives an adjustment on the first visit is left to the discretion of the examining doctor. It depends on the examination findings and the patient’s previous experience with chiropractic. There is always some form of treatment given if you are in severe pain.
Will I need X-rays?
Not always, but often a chiropractor will require x-rays so that the actual bones can be visualized. X-rays can help confirm a chiropractor’s diagnosis and can also rule out possible fractures. X-ray fees are covered under Alberta Health Care and there are many labs close by for easy access.
Does chiropractic care hurt?
Yes and No. There may be some discomfort because of an injury to the muscle. Inflamed and strained muscles may feel sore after or during a treatment. The overall effect though, is to help you fell more relaxed and pain free! Take a look at the different techniques we use in our office.
Will the chiropractor recommend exercises for me?
Yes. Along with outlining a treatment plan with you, your chiropractor will recommend alternatives to care, exercises and changes to your current lifestyle.
How long will I need chiropractic care?
Since chiropractic care depends on the healing abilities of each individual, results can be hard to predict. Some patients detect changes in a few short days or weeks. Others take weeks to months before showing progress. Rest assured you are in good hands. You will receive a specialized care program based on your specific needs and we will always keep you updated on your progress.
What if my insurance company doesn’t cover chiropractic?
Insurance is designed for emergency situations. If you crash your care or your house burns down, insurance is there to help. However, it does not pay for the well being of your car or house, like changing the oil or replacing your furnace filter. Health insurance works in a similar way. Having some insurance can be helpful of course, but we will always base our recommendations for your health care on what you require to get well. Please ask about how we make chiropractic care affordable for almost anyone.
